What Super Hero are you???

Posted in Group:

I thought this might be an interesting topic for discussion. I love to read and I will honesty say I've read a good "Graphic Novel" or comic book from time to time. I loved them when I was younger! One of my favorites now is the new Batgirl comics. Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl was unable to walk for some time and now has regained the use of her legs and taken up "crime fighting" again. I like to read some of these stories because I can identify with her fears and how sometimes when she tries to do things and fails. She thinks she's strong enough but at times she just not quite there yet and has to re-group and try again. I like the fact that they show her as a flawed person who is trying to make in the world. I feel I can identify with her. So I was wondered what "Super Hero" others here in SG (Super Support Group..dant ta da!) might identify with and why.... just for fun

Chases I love this fun kinda of post! I think it's so interesting to read what people wrote, you kinda learn about them! I am not sure which superhero I can identify with! But when I was a kid I loved this cartoon called Captain Planet! Has anyone else heard or liked watching that show? Thanks for your post!

I am a princess. All girls are. Even if they live in tiny old attics. Even if they dress in rags, even if they aren't rich, or are young or old! They're still princesses. All of us. Didn't anyone tell you that? Didn't anyone? I am telling you that!

Princess,

Captain Planet sounded familiar and I looked him up on the internet and found out about him and the Planeteers - it mentioned them defending the Earth from the greatest of disasters and making efforts to educate mankind to keep others from happening... kinda cool. It goes on to talk about a characater in the show called Gaia who uses her "Planet Vision" to discover where the most devastating destruction is occurring and sends the Planeteers to help solve the problem. Sounds a bit like you using your "kind heart" to help others solve their problemes, you go "Princess Warrior"

Hey "chases squirrels" -

I would be “Batman” – without any side-kick. "The Dark Knight".

Though I do like a lot of the other super-heroes such a “Superman” etc. – I like the fact that “Batman” has no special powers from any chemical accident or being born on another planet. In a way - “Batman” is actually a possibility.

Someone who suffered a great loss and decided to make that loss not befall anyone else as long as he could help it. He took his anger and used it productively to train himself to become what he would eventually be.

I also like the fact he does his work behind a mask and mainly at night-time – so very few can see him – know who he is - or what good he has done.

Comic books and graphic novels have been another thing which keep me grounded and calm while being in reality – while I read about fantasy and non-reality. Another part of my antique toy collection – vintage comics.

Regards - Mike

Mike,

I agree I really enjoyed reading a good comic book... my Dad had an old Barber Shop where he had a lot of vintage comics that he kept a round for when kids came in for a haircut. I would go to visit him and I'd sit there for hours just reading away. Years later I asked him what he did with all those great comics, I was hoping he still had them and I could read them. He told me when he closed his shop he gave them to one of his customer's sons.

I like Batman too, some of the Batgirl stories I've read of course have had 'guest appurtenances" by Batman and/or Robin. I remember the "campy" TV series too, it was corny but fun to watch - BAM, POW BIFF.... hey you could use a few of these moves on those BANKERS!!! : )
