What is your positive word?
OnlyHuman,
I think that's neat, I had to smile as I read the words...it works!
Thanks
Hey “chases squirrels” -
My word would be … “Sanctuary” – and not to be so obvious or unimaginative – it is defined as a safe place. My home use to be my sanctuary where all the objects that would bring me to a calmer place were kept – except for three vintage “Hot Wheels” toy cars which I would tote around as needed.
I use to collect vintage toys from the era of my childhood – basically the toys I either had or the ones I had wished I had. I have a fair sized collection which has always focused my mind to an easier time of innocence for myself – but not necessarily a happier time – but tranquil none the less.
I use to keep those three vintage “Hot Wheels” toy cars in my desk at work – and when things got to me – I would bring them out of the drawer and place them on my desk to remind myself of a calmer place and time even when I was not at home – in my “Sanctuary”.
My regards - Mike
Mike,
One thing I love to do is go to a local Antique shop and just wander around and look at everything. The place is an old converted barn and it is HUGE! Even though it can be a bit cold in the winter I just love to walk around and remember the past. They have some awesome toys there. I like old books; I just love to read.... Sanctuary is a perfect word for you I think you represent a "sanctuary" to a lot of the folks on here. They turn to you in times of stress to feel safe -

my word is rabbit , the soft , white cuddly type . they make me feel safe and grounded somehow when they r nearbye , then i never feel alone . i always have a sweet almost satisfied grin on my face when i think of my dear sweet comforting rabbit .
Barri,
The word rabbit and then how you described ... just put calm a thought right into mind... I think I might think of a rabbit when I'm at work tomorrow and it gets busy (we will be short many people) and I feel stress coming on...

I look back at my boys at the age of 4, the funny things they did, them trying to be men. When i venture to a store i usually take them with me to reassure me and not focus on the surrounding areas. If not them my BFF will go with me and she keeps focus on me. I tend to get totally stressed and i will forget where I am or what hasz happend, my Brain just shuts off, however with my councelor he has learned that he can keep me from blacking out buy talking about my kids. Also music works for me also, I have my MP# with special relax songs that I truly love and brings me fond memories. It keeps me from the "zone"
country girl,
First I must say I love Peanuts...Snoopy is my favorite! I like the use of music as a way to beat stress. My husband likes Jazz music and I think there are a few cds we have that would work great when I need something calm to listen to ...

I do this as well. But for me, I think of my stuffed animals: a moose and an elephant. I'm not sure I think of one more than the other, but they both bring me a sense of peace whenever I'm having a rough time. I just close my eyes, breathe deeply, and conjure images of Horton (elephant) and Chocolate (moose), and they always help me center and focus myself.
