Needing some advice!

Posted in Group:

Hello all! I haven't been on here for awhile as I have been trying to live my life as normal as possible and really haven't had the time. I wd the final time was diagnosed with depression and anxiety back in October of last year. I struggled with medications and finding the right ones. I was hospitalized 3 times last year in 2 months for suicidal ideations an actual attempt as suicide. Anyhow...to get to my point. I was put on Paxil and Wellbuterin in November and was on them until around the end of January when I decided to wean myself off. I felt as if the meds were clogging up my mind and making me confused and making me unable to concentrate. Not to mention always being tried and zero sex drive. So, now I've been weaned off for about 2 weeks and am now having worse confusion and concentration problems and insomnia. After someone close to me pointed this out to me...I was having these same concentration and memory issues when the depression 1st started...so it must not be the side effects of the meds then right? Maybe the confusion and memory issues stem from my depression still being out of control? Any advise is appreciated! Thanks and take care.

you should never take yourself off of your meds without talking to your doctor about it first, some medications can have dangerous withdrawls, even if you do try to wean yourself... also, maybe you just needed more adjustment time or a change in dosage... i suggest talking to the doctor, letting them know what you did and why.

also, are you in counseling or just taking medication? if you are not in counseling you might want to do that on top of the meds.

I was about to do something awesome again, but I told myself, "Enough is enough! That's plenty of awesome for one day."

Welcome back Dawn. I'm sorry you aren't doing well. I have to agree with Jessica. You really need to get in touch with your doctor as soon as possible and let him/her know what you've done and follow the doctors orders to the T. I'd hate for anything to happen to you.
