DBT

Today I get to start going to DBT again.
I am way more nervous than I was when I started it the first time. I had done three of the modules and then they decided to do a short version of the first module before doing the last module. I didn't have to repeat the module, I could have just been off for two months and then back with the group who I knew. I decided to do the repeat as I felt I could get more help from the review. My (now ex) therapist pulled me from it. I then started a complex trama class that she said I couldn't take while in DBT (even though other people in that class were in both. I missed the last DBT module.
Now getting back into DBT it will be all new people exept if there are others repeating and not the group that I was comfortable expressing myself in front of. It won't be until the fall that I get to the interpersonal relationships module unless they change the order again.

My anxiety level stayed hight all day. When we were doing mindfulness in the class I could not keep from crying. What was being read was not sad at all.

Well I think its good that you went back! How is it going now? How is your anxiety? I know how you feel cuz I am also in DBT as you know and I have anxiety too with going!

I am a princess. All girls are. Even if they live in tiny old attics. Even if they dress in rags, even if they aren't rich, or are young or old! They're still princesses. All of us. Didn't anyone tell you that? Didn't anyone? I am telling you that!

Now that I have seen who all is in the group I am not feeling much anxiety about it tonight except for the fact that I need to find someone to get a ride home from next week if my daughter ends up not being available since my husband will be out of town. I can take a bus there but they stop running before the class is over. If I can't finds ride it is an hour walk.

do you find that dbt helps you? my therapist is pushing me to try it as I'm having a really hard time functioning day to day but I don't even really understand what it is. I also experience anxiety at the thought of joining a new group, but i do want to give it a try. I'm torn, any suggestions?

Who chains us, and who holds the key to set us free? It's you. You have all the weapons you need. Now fight.

It is very helpful and, at least where I go, they understand that you wont get everything the first time so you can retake modules. I missed the interpersonal relationships module because my old therapist pulled me out so I am now retaking distress Tolarance and already feel like I will get more out of it this time.
