Coming off my meds.

Posted in Group:

Hi
I have been taking SSRI's to try to help with my panic attacks for several months now but I feel like it's been all side effects and no actual useful effects for me. I feel like actually my anxiety and panic attacks have got markedly worse since I started taking these pills. Because of a few incidents over recent weeks, I have lost all faith in my doctor and therapist and have decided to come off the pills and seek help outside the health system. This is my first step!
Anyway, I actually feel LESS anxious and am sleeping better already despite only being off the pills a few days. I really think they don't agree with me.
However I still want to get better. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to cope with panic/anxiety? Other than taking meds. I've already done a lot of reading books to understand my sickness but I need to have something practical that I'm doing to deal with it and definitely need support and contact with others going through the same things, if only so that I know I'm not crazy (or if I am, I'm not the only one!)
Any advice is gratefully received.

It is good to remember that the panic is only temporary, comes and goes away fast. When happens, it is good to change your thoughts or to focus on some happy event or on a funny comments or saying, this interrupts the panic. Wishing you health and happiness. God bless you.
